    302321 - Missoula Children's Theater

Enjoy Wheaton's favorite summer theater event! Approximately 50 children are chosen to perform in the full-scale production of Aladdin.

For Aladdin, itís not easy to find a magic lamp but itís even harder to get a date! Itís a swirling sandstorm of famous Arabian Tales from Ali Baba to Scheherazade, and even Sinbad the Sailor, as Aladdin journeys to find a magic lamp in a Cave of (not-so-great) Wonders. Along the way, Aladdin seeks answers and advice from wise Genies, a
powerful Sultan, and his own Mother to find a way to meet the Princess.

But even with the lamp in hand, Aladdin will have to learn it takes more than a wish to make a good impression. Full of memorable characters, from lost Penguins to talking Palm Trees, this is an adventure worthy of 1001 laughs.

After casting takes place on Monday (10A-12P), a week of intensive rehearsals follows as lines, staging, songs, and dances are learned. Professional actors from the Missoula Children's Theatre play major roles and direct the show. The tour comes complete with professionally designed scenery, costumes, and make-up. Those auditioning need not prepare songs or readings, but must arrive at 10A and stay until noon. Some cast members will also stay for a two-hour rehearsal following auditions. Rehearsals will be scheduled Monday, 12:30-2:30P and Tuesday through Friday, 10A-12P and 12:30-2:30P. Not all participants are required to attend all rehearsals, but everyone must attend the Saturday shows at 3P and 5:30P.

The production is designed with parts suitable for every age, skill, and experience level. Two adult tickets are included in your registration fee. Additional tickets to the show will be available at the Community Center front desk during the week of rehearsals. Participant fees are due after being cast: $82 R/$103 NR. (CH)
